Project:

An HVAC* and Title 21 architectural design firm wanted to get more exposure by revamping its ten-year old identity and producing a new brochure that clearly captured their expertise and growing capabilities.

*Heating, ventilation and air conditioning

Issues:

Just after the dot-bomb, this company found itself light on work and tight on budget. They needed to update their image, revise their documents and mark themselves out from their competitors and do all of this quickly and effectively.

We were tapped to create a wholly new and positive image including their business identity, stationery and marketing brochure—and, to educate the sales staff

on how to use them. They hoped to find less expensive channels to market the company such as networking groups, local chambers of commerce and other affiliations available to their business, and they wanted a brochure that would entice prospects to call.

Solution:

Working closely with the client, we created a visually strong yet subtle logo. Working as closely as they do with architects, we bridged the gap between CTC and them with a softly blurred Ionic column from the Temple of Minerva Polias at Priene topping a T-square, a tool commonly used by CTC and their partner businesses. Mirroring the "C"s, we show how the two types of firms work closely with each other yet are different in their final product. Using the vertical triangle, one of the three major forms in all design (the circle and square being the other two), we sought to show strength, stability and upward growth—all in one simple form. The coup de gras was simple—use strong block lettering to reinforce CTC's potential as a working partner.

The corporate stationery draws strongly from the executed concept with the triangle logo standing at the pinnacle of the letterhead and envelopes while spacing and usage created several challenges to maintaining the overall strength and feel. By keeping the logo first and foremost at the left-hand of the address block, we overcame these obstacles while keeping the vision true.

From there we created a tight, to-the-point marketing document designed to entice potential clients through a display of CTC's high-profile projects, their enormous capabilities and experience, and their client-friendly working environment. Using stock imagery and an online printing service to maintain cost controls, we worked with CTC to give its sales personnel just the tool they needed to represent CTC to their networking contacts and potential clients.

_____

Outcome:

CTC Associates has enjoyed renewed vigor, new clientele, and higher client satisfaction. By helping the sales staff understand the true value of CTC to its clients, affiliations and ancillary business partners, the firm has increased sales and client-based referrals by over 35%. The work environment has improved as well, with less stress and more enjoyment for the staff and contractors alike.
